I'm Derek Allen, a wedding filmmaker based on Lake Norman. I've filmed more than 90 weddings across the Carolinas. I love getting to know couples and telling their stories in the form of wedding films.
Our films are romantic and timeless, but they don't stop at the kiss. I capture the real energy of your day, the candid laughs, the toasts, the party, so your film feels the way your wedding felt.

Every wedding, every time
- 8 hours of coverage on site, from getting ready through the party
- Two filmmakers. Derek leads every wedding, with a second videographer for 6 hours
- A 7–8 minute film cut to up to two songs of your choice
- Ceremony audio recorded from the DJ's mixer, with three backup mics on the officiant and groom
- A film-quality spotlight on every toast
- Delivered through Frame.io as MP4 files, one month after the wedding
All along the river
We chose our name after the Catawba River, which runs through both Carolinas. We have enjoyed predominantly filming weddings and corporate events from Asheville to Hilton Head.

Director · Lead videographerA full-time videographer and filmmaker from Northern Virginia. Derek trained on the job at Kings School of Media in Jerusalem and graduated in 2017. His strength is creating the perfect mood for every video, and he has filmed as lead videographer for over 90 weddings in the Carolinas and overseas.

Photographer · VideographerA still photographer and videographer specializing in portraits, conferences and weddings. Maverick captures meaningful stories with emotive and engaging video content, and has worked on over 50 weddings in the Carolinas shooting stills and video.
Lynsey Kruse
Photography · DesignLynsey has a background in the arts, with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from UNC Charlotte. She specializes in photography and design, with more than 10 years of experience.
